Christ Methodist Church of AuburnTony's Tidings A Call to Purposeful Living When I arrived on the campus of Auburn University for my freshman year of college, I knew very little about how to find my way around. There were afternoons where I would go walking in an attempt to orient myself with campus and beyond. It took a few months of exploring, on foot and by bike, to learn the “lay of the land” and not feel constantly lost. Maybe you have felt the same way at times in your life when it takes time to get your bearings. It may be a new town, a new job, or a new chapter in your life. You may be there right now, just wandering, both in life and in faith, unsure of where you’re headed. It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, moving from one task to the next without ever stopping to ask, “Where am I going?” This kind of aimless wandering can leave us feeling lost, unfulfilled, and disconnected from God’s purpose for our lives. The Bible has much to say about living with direction and purpose. Proverbs 29:18 tells us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Vision, in this sense, isn’t just about seeing what’s ahead but understanding where God is leading us. When we lack this vision, we can find ourselves drifting, going through the motions of life without meaning or impact. In our spiritual journey, it’s vital to pause and consider the path we’re on. Are we walking with Christ, or are we just moving without direction? Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” God’s Word provides the guidance we need to navigate life’s uncertainties. But we must be intentional about seeking His direction daily. Walking aimlessly can also reflect a deeper spiritual issue—trust. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we surrender our plans to God and trust His guidance, He leads us with clarity and purpose. God often uses our seasons of feeling lost to deepen our dependence on Him. Isaiah 30:21 says, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Even when we can’t see the way forward, God is there, gently leading us back to His path. If you’re feeling lost today, take heart. God specializes in guiding the wandering soul. Trust in His faithfulness, immerse yourself in His Word, and seek Him in prayer. He is the Good Shepherd who never abandons His sheep and will faithfully lead you to the place of peace, purpose, and renewed direction. This fall let’s commit to walking intentionally with God. Let’s be people of purpose, not just motion. Whether in our personal lives, our ministries, or our community, may we seek God’s direction, so we’re not just wandering but moving forward in the purpose He has for us. In Christ, Pastor Tony |

Painist Randall Atcheson in Concert
Sunday, August 18th @ 6:30pm (Trinity Methodist Opelika) Internationally renowned pianist, Randy Atcheson, will be featured in concert on Sunday, August 19th, at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Methodist in Opelika. The concert is sponsored by Christ Methodist Church in cooperation with Trinity Methodist benefitting the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation. The Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2007 in honor of Dr. Karl Stegall. Randall Atcheson, a well-known pianist in New York City, is a native of rural Chilton County. His father was a bi-vocational minister who served small membership churches in areas around Clanton and Maplesville when Randall was growing up. When Randall was only 12 years old, his parents enrolled him for music lessons at what is now the School of Music at Samford University. After graduating from Chilton County High School and Samford University, Randall enrolled at the Julliard School of Music in New York City. Randall holds the distinction of being the only graduate of Julliard who ever received Masters degrees in both organ and piano from that prestigious institution. Following his graduation from Julliard, Randall chose to remain in New York City where he performs in concerts and accompanies nationally known soloists. He is a Steinway artist and has recently been recognized as their “Steinway Teacher of the Year.” Come hear this popular Christian pianist who has played for farmers in the smallest county churches of rural Alabama, as well as for Presidents and First Ladies in some of the largest cathedrals in the world. There will be a brief gathering following the concert in the Trinity Fellowship Hall. All are invited to stay and enjoy this time together! |

We would like to begin mailing them a copy of our email. If you know of someone who would like the weekly Newsletter mailed to them, please let us know. Let's continue to make a habit to check the Connect Cart and tables as you enter the lobbies for worship each Sunday. In addition to hymnals, we have guest name tags as well as regular name tags for regular attendees who forgot theirs (Pastor Tony appreciates those as he learns everyone’s name).
